Oh what a day! My sons caregiver called last minute to say that her son had the flu and she couldn't watch anyone. So in a frenzy I called every soul I could think of to watch my little nugget...no one was available at such late notice.
I proceeded to call my co-workers to see if anyone could cover for me. We are a small locally owned boutique so I didn't have too many options, sure enough both my fellow stylists were still sleeping...and I can't blame them for that, it was their day off!
Anyway, I had no choice but to take my son to work with me. This was the absolute LAST option but I had to do it. So I made a mad rush around the house getting all our things ready and frantically dressed myself and my son. We both probably looked a hot mess! Out the door I went just in time to get to the shop and open up. Sure enough the minute the clock struck 10 a client came in needing help with accessories to go with her formal dress. I did my best to style her while my son got a bit cranky because it was time for him to be fed. Fortunately the client left in time for me to give J his bottle before a complete melt down occurred. Shortly after that my boss came in...needless to say she was less then thrilled about my son being with me. Can't say I blame her, fashion retail and baby boys don't always go hand in hand.
Thankfully I got my first bit of good news...one of my co-workers called and said she could come in to relieve me! The downside was that I have to cover for her on Friday so my husband and I will have to cancel our plans to go out of town.
I just can't seem to catch a break today! Thank God tomorrow is a new day that I can start out fresh. I am just so tired being pregnant and all. Have any of you ever had "one of those days"? What did you do to look on the bright side and make the most of it? If I had the time I'd probably indulge in a little retail therapy. ;)
I hate "those" days! and yes, sadly shopping is my only fix for those days. Nothing cheers me up like a new pair of shoes :) I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day for you!
ReplyDeleteoh yes...or my kids would be too sick to take to the babysitter.... and as a nurse, calling off made the whole unit short staffed....when we started having more kids, something happened more often...I switched to working weekends and my husband babysat...and he worked all week and i babysat...we gave up our wkends but the kids were little I was constantly pregnant and it worked for us!
ReplyDeletegood luck!!!!
